ED Tech - Per diem on/call
Job Description
Per diem/on call; schedule varies as needed.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician assists in the care and treatment of patients and is available and responsible for providing Spanish/English interpretive services to limited-English-proficiency (LEP) patients throughout the hospital, Community Paramedic Program and clinics as needed. As well as interviewing incoming patients or representatives for required information needed for registration and discharge during limited hours. Assists the physicians and health care staff in the communication process in rendering medical care and other administrative requirements relating to that care. Assists in LEP patients in adapting to an environment where their native language is not spoken by helping make them more comfortable through the communication process.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
ED Technician, graduate of medical assistant program, CNA or EMT I.
Ability to read, write, and speak English and LEP patient’s language (only English to Spanish) demonstrated by the ability to pass an oral exam administered by ALTA qualified interpreters or obtain DSHS LIST certification for Spanish Language.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
