Job Summary:

The role of the Endoscopy Technician is to support and assist the GI physician. The technician assists the practitioner in the performance of endoscopic procedures. These procedures range in complexity from simple endoscopy to the more advanced therapeutic interventional procedures. The technician is responsible for cleaning scopes, maintaining the proper performance of equipment, proper storage, handling, and transport of equipment, ordering supplies and equipment, procedural room turn over with appropriate infection prevention practice, and ensuring the appropriate inventory level is maintained. The incumbent must possess technical skills to appropriately troubleshoot equipment issues and scope management, as well as, have a basic knowledge of GI anatomy and medical terminology. Demonstrates appropriate scope management knowledge and skills. Perform proper bedside reprocessing. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining and improving departmental standards of care and practice? 

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years' experience in some aspect of the medical field.

  • GI experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Licensure & Certifications Requirements

  • BLS
  • Washington State Surgical Technician License 
  • Must be able to successfully complete the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates GI Associate Program within a year of hire. 

  • Must be able to obtain Certified Endoscopic Reprocessor (CER) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association within 6 months of hire. 

Pay Range: $19.70-$34.16
